SHORT DEADLINE: FRIDAY 18th DECEMBER 2015
The following is a message from Christina Arokium from the Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK), a London based charity and were established in 2005 with the aim of supporting campaigners, groups and people to get their voices heard.
We have an exciting new programme, funded by Barrow Cadbury Trust, for Midlands based campaigners. The programme is called ‘Influencing Change Midlands’ and supports people and groups in gaining the capabilities and confidence they need to successfully influence decision makers and others.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this course and met some fascinating people who have helped me shape my skills in influencing. I will definitely use the template for structuring a campaign and think carefully about what actions I am going to take.
The programme is spread over five months and is for groups that want to gain influence and campaign for change.
Participants will learn how to:
- develop a campaign strategy
- work effectively with the media
- use social media
- involve supporters and allies
The programme also focuses on how local authorities and central government make decisions, and offers information and expertise on how to influence them.

- Parliamentary Outreach
- Regional Action West Midlands

- 38 Degrees
- Trinity Mirror
- BBC / Media Trust
