FareShare Neighbourhood Food Collection

The following is a message from FareShare:

Give back this Christmas and join FareShare at this year’s biggest food collection. We are looking for volunteers to give a few hours of their time to help feed people in need.

Volunteers would be in store handing out ‘shopping lists’ to customers and collecting donations. In just 3 hours you could collect enough store-cupboard staples for five hundred meals for people in need. It’s a good opportunity to volunteer as a group or on your own, and to meet new people. Grab your Santa hat and spread some Christmas cheer.

At FareShare, we rescue fresh surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to other charities, benefiting vulnerable people and the planet. We provide 2,135 charities nationwide with a mixture of good quality fresh produce and long life store cupboard essentials allowing them to provide a vital lifeline for disadvantaged people.

However, we need your help. Whilst we have a steady supply of quality fresh produce, those store cupboard essentials, thanks to their long shelf life, don’t often appear as surplus. Each year we partner with Tesco to a national food collection where we stock up on these essentials.
