Community and volunteer groups from all over South Staffordshire, along with charities and partner organisations are attending a big shop window event at Trinity Church in Codsall – to celebrate their successes, attract more helpers, and tell people about help and funding for projects.
South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson is opening the event, which runs from 10 am to 2 pm. South Staffordshire Community & Voluntary Action (SSCVA) are organising the event, with their free development support and latest resources being made available to groups in attendance.
Lots of community & voluntary groups will gather for the celebration on Saturday 4th July, and SSCVA are inviting anyone interested in knowing what they do to attend and bring along the whole family.
SSCVA chief officer, David Leese said: “Voluntary groups and volunteers are more important than ever in meeting community needs. We want to celebrate and promote the huge contribution these groups and volunteers make across South Staffordshire.”
Visitors will be able to try out a wide range of activities, including indoor bowling, lucky dips, fun games and other events, with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, along with police, also attending. Free refreshments will be on offer. “All we ask is people come along, find out what’s happening in their community and have some fun. We’re expecting lots of people to be inspired to start volunteering and organisations to benefit from this opportunity to make links and get help for community projects,” added David.
At the end of the event a certificate presentation will be held, in appreciation of the work that local volunteers do, and the time and effort they spend to help in their local communities. Nominations can be sent to SSCVA through the contacts below.
