Autumn Community Voice Forums A Success

We’ve had a very busy fortnight here at South Staffordshire Community & Voluntary Action with our Community Voice Forums. 5 events took place across South Staffordshire and it was great to see just how strong the third sector is in our district.

Maggie Quinn and Mark Jenkinson gave several presentations around The Good Life South Staffordshire, Let’s Work Together training, The Good Life Community Budget, and local community transport.

Imre Tolgyesi gave a talk about the brand new Good Life Deals App that has just been launched. You can find out more information and download it for yourself HERE.

Our own Anne Ross then gave a talk about the Community Support Project we run for South Staffordshire residents over 50, with multiple complex needs or long-term health conditions who need a little extra support from their community. Ros Burton then gave an update on the services we offer around volunteering, such as the Wednesday drop in sessions and the South Staffordshire Work Clubs that we are part of.

In Essington we also heard a great presentation from The Forest Of Mercia CIC on their Hilton Green Project and what the future holds for the site.

It was also great to have Assistant Headteacher Chris Curtis and several students from Wolgarston High School join us again for the forum in Penkridge. The students are clearly passionate about making a difference in their local community and they made some excellent contacts with members from local groups that we are sure will turn into great relationships.

We must also thank everybody that got involved in our group workshop sessions around how SSCVA can continue providing our much-needed services. Some great discussions were had and we are now in the process of getting all the information together so that we can better shape our organisation for the future.

So all that remains is to thank everybody that makes these Community Voice Forums so successful. Thank you to the staff of South Staffordshire Community & Voluntary Action that arrange and run the events, thank you to our partners for updating our groups on important matters in their area, and thank you to all of our member groups for your lively discussion and for bringing so many ideas to the table.

We hope to see you all again for another round of Community Voice Forums in the spring.
